OCALA, FL – On the morning of Wednesday, March 11, a vehicle was spotted on the roof of Building 40 on the College of Central Florida Ocala campus. The vehicle, a tan 2004 Honda Civic, has been reported stuck on the building’s roof.
The incident was first reported by Public Safety officer Bill Trwomy, who first saw the vehicle at 10:30 a.m. after noticing bright pink trim.
“What on roof?” Trwomy said when asked about the sighting. “It’s kind of like ‘what on earth,’ but it’s a roof, so… Yeah.”
The Honda was found to be in violation of the school’s parking policy, and staff determined that a parking citation needed to be issued.
Campus security was properly “befuddled” about how to administer the ticket. Ideas included sending paper airplane citations to the vehicle, duct-taping extendable grabbers together and utilizing cornhole techniques. The CF Patriots baseball team was even called in to attempt “ticket home-runs” to deliver the citation.
When staff found that they could not deliver the ticket to the car, they decided that the car would need to be delivered to the ticket.
Unsanctioned Fastback Offloaders, or U.F.O., were called in by campus officials to extract the vehicle from the rooftop. The U.F.O team of 13, known as “The Bakers Dozen,” attempted for what witnesses described as a “fortnight” to remove the vehicle before the plan was abandoned.
The car remains on the roof.
Officials say the situation remains under review.
