There once was a girl,
Who saw color,
In her whole world,
Her imagination wild and free,
She always was thinking,
No matter how hard she tried,
She was always mystified,
Head stuck in the clouds,
The mother, the father, the teachers too,
They said to cut it out,
“Focus on the real world in front of you,
‘Lest you miss out,”
But that didn’t snuff the light in her heart,
There remained a fighting spark,
The worlds in her head swept her away,
As dreams of night while she slept away,
All grown now,
Kissed with the diagnosis of ADHD,
A pen in hand,
A plan, a dream,
The real world faded around her,
Sharp, jaded, bleak,
But deep within her,
The worlds and dreams still sing,
Destined to be an author,
Though the critics try,
Cannot tear her down,
There remains a light in her eyes.
