The College of Central Florida’s softball team, the Patriots, faced the Polk State College Eagles on Tuesday, April 4 at the CF Softball Complex. The first game began at 2 p.m. while the second began at 4 p.m. The Patriots came out on top, winning both games with a score of 9-3. The following home games were held on April 9 against the Santa Fe Saints. The Patriots once again came out on top, winning the first game with a score of 6-2 and the second with a score of 11-0.
The Patriots have gone through this season with 35 wins and 15 losses. The team has had 42
home runs this season and has a batting average of .374. A batting average is determined by – dividing a player’s number of hits by their total at – bats. Usually, anywhere around a .300
batting average is considered a “good” batting average.
The team has accumulated 293 runs for the season – and the pitchers have struck out 115 batters.
The pitching staff is made up of 4 freshmen and 3 sophomores. Altogether, the Patriots softball
team includes 14 hardworking freshmen and 10 sophomores.
